In the middle of 2017, we contracted with Cheshire Extensions Ltd to do to a sizable amount of rebuilding of our existing kitchen and to create a downstairs shower room. This was quite a big job for us as it doubled the size of the kitchen and required the building of a completely new room.
We had several meetings with Carl to discuss the architect's plans and he was extremely helpful in explaining the various issues and patiently answered our many questions. We had a team led by Dave the foreman (more about Dave later). All the team who worked under Dave were really nice people, worked very hard and overcame all the problems that arise out of a job like this. It was a pleasure to have them working in and out of the house. The result for us was a spectacular kitchen and wonderful shower room.
And now, onto Dave. Other reviewers have mentioned Dave and we are not surprised. We thought he was fabulous. He has a wonderful sense of humour and is a brilliant builder who can do anything with considerable success; a real master of all trades. He was also an excellent leader of his team and was always ready to listen to us, always had a solution for any potential problem and in the process taught us a great deal about building. From the beginning Carl knew he'd have his work cut out as I have a background in project management!
Carl is conscientious, a perfectionist and straight talking! He explains things in every day language in order to reassure and makes making important decisions easy. He is acutely aware that the "building site" is, in fact, your home.
His team worked tirelessly (including weekends) to keep the project on track, taking each challenge the project presented on the chin and working for the best result, not the quickest and easiest, but the one that once everything was finished, would look best in our home. The team were polite and friendly whilst remaining professional.
Neighbours on both sides (we had to use one side for access and built within a few centimetres of the boundary on the other side) were happy with the level of cleanliness and respect shown for their cooperation and properties.
Naturally, on a kitchen extension other trades and partners are required, we used everyone that Carl recommended and have been utterly impressed with them all!
The end result is stunning and we can't believe the difference it's made to our home.
Don't get me wrong, it's a messy and dusty affair, but Carl and his team really do work at pace, whilst not compromising on quality, to ensure you have your home back as soon as possible!

We had an idea of an extension we wanted to do to our current home, no idea where to start, Cheshire Extensions came recommended to us, so we gave them a call. It couldn't have been easier, right from our first meeting with Carl he made us feel at ease, it was obvious he really knows his stuff. He put us in touch with an architect who was able to draw up the plans, deal with the planning office and get us ready for the start of the work. We also chose to use the kitchen designers and fitters (KAS kitchens in Cheadle) Carl recommended. Prior to the work starting we had a visit from our project manager Dave. Just what we wanted, he talked us through what to expect over the coming weeks, a rough idea as to timescale and what preparations we should do before the start. Every person we dealt with always did what they said they would, arrived for meetings on time and were prepared to spend time talking through the job.
You hear horror stories of builders not turning up, slipping off early to do other jobs and generally not being reliable, None of that applies to this company. At no point did we ever feel our property was not being respected by any of the team. Our builders were Dave Colin and Charlie, what a great bunch of guys, they arrived early every day with a cheery smile, we had a brief with Dave every day then we went off to work, most days they were still here when we got home.
The house was always left as tidy and secure as possible, they always made sure we had power and water each day. Nothing was every too much trouble, Dave was always, just on the end of the phone. Whatever we asked he always had a solution to it, he really is excellent at what he does.
Without Dave's knowledge & experience, Colin's big hammer and his ability to remove any wall or ceiling and Charlie's who was up on our roof in the really cold weather and still came in with a laugh and a smile each day we wouldn't have the amazing space we have now. The extension has completely changed how we use our home, we cant thank everyone enough for what they have done for us.
Cheshire Extensions oversaw everything right from the start to the day they handed our keys back to us, meaning we could just get on with our lives and leave them to it.

We had got quotes from Carl on a few occasions over the years until we finally got round to making a decision and to building our extension! When we were ready we went directly to Cheshire because we knew by then that Carl and his team were very reliable and competent. We are absolutely delighted with the new kitchen that Carl (of Cheshire Extensions Ltd) and his team have created for us. The job involved knocking two rooms into one, installing a new kitchen (and removing the old one). Carl organised all of it (building, plumbing, electrics, flooring, plastering, decorating) and brought in Alastair & Lee from KAS (Kitchen Appliance Specialists in Cheadle) to assist in recommending, supplying and installing the kitchen.
Cheshire Extensions Ltd are registered with the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) and it was via the FMB website that we originally found Carl's details. From start to finish Carl was very friendly, helpful and relaxed. We found he was reasonably priced and very fair in all aspects of the job. Every part of the work was done in accordance with the appropriate standards: NICEIC, Building Regs, and Gas Safe (formerly Corgi). This was exactly what we wanted and provided peace of mind throughout.
All of the people in Carl's team were excellent and we felt very comfortable with them in our home. Special mention to Dave (the foreman) and John who were here most often (regularly rolling up outside at 7:30AM!) The kitchen fitter did a fantastic job of fitting the kitchen and the electricians (Keith & team), plasterers, Alan the flooring guy and Tracy the decorator were great as well.
Carl was always easy to get hold of and we found this very reassuring. There was a short "snag list" at the end of the job, but again Carl was more than fair and ensured that all of the issues were sorted.
In summary: We are over the moon with our new kitchen and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Carl and Cheshire Extensions Ltd, or to use them again in the future.

We chose Cheshire Extensions Ltd as it was clear from our first meeting with Carl that he understood what we were trying to achieve with our complex extension, he was polite and likeable and importantly he really understood that we wanted the highest quality finish precisely matching the existing build.
The whole experience was first class and we are extremely happy with what was achieved. You genuinely would not know this was an extension; interiors, windows, skirts etc match existing build perfectly.
Through the whole project, Carl was available and would come on site as required. He was very approachable and would listen, and act on, any concerns we had and we worked together to decide on the fine details. Unlike other builders, Carl answers his phone immediately or calls back quickly if he's initially unavailable.

I recently had a single story extension completed by Cheshire extensions and have nothing but compliments for the service I received. The cost of the extension was broken down to line items and the eventual cost did not differ much from this. I was extremely happy with the guys as they took pride in every detail and extra care when in or around my property, including covering my drive to ensure it was not damaged and even cleaned the windows when they had finished. The communication was excellent as Ronnie and Carl were available on the phone 24 / 7 and gave me daily phone calls to advise what the plan was and what I could expect to receive by the end of the day.
It's very rare I write such a complimentary response for a company as I have a high expectation however I could not fault Carl and his team. I would strongly urge anyone having an extension to use Cheshire extensions.

I first contacted Carl Bateman and Cheshire Extensions as a result of a recommendation from a colleague at work. From the outset my dealings with Carl have been helpful and professional. Carl provided a competitive quote for a large double and single storey extension on my house. He was able to advise me regarding the finish at the property. Carl was particularly understanding and sensitive of the pressures that had necessitated the extension.
The foreman Ronnie was excellent as were the two Pauls, Scott, Graham and Dave to mention a few. Building work can be stressful but the team made sure that there were positive relationships and good humour prevailed. I actually missed them a bit when they'd gone! The quality of the work undertaken was excellent and I was consulted about decisions and given alternative solutions in good time to allow me to consider the best way forward. When there was a problem, as there are from time to time on a build as large as this, Carl and Ronnie were quick to act, explain difficulties and offer solutions. The builders were tidy and cleaned up at the end of the day. I went on holiday twice during the build and was confident that things would be well looked after in my absence, which they were.
Carl has also been extremely helpful with advice and opinions regarding the purchase of another property for my parents. I'm hopeful that when we do buy one Carl and his team will undertake the work for us.

I initially got in touch with Cheshire Extensions because I was looking at building a large extension to the side of the house. Carl was very helpful and suggested some ways to proceed that I hadn't thought of.
Unfortunately I couldn't get planning permission, so I asked Carl about doing a smaller extension to the rear of the property. There were subsequently some issues with getting this through because of issues with a local culvert, but Carl was unfailingly helpful despite the long delays and rearrangement of plans.
I got a fully descriptive quote of the work to be undertaken, the cost and any possible reasons why that cost might change. As it turned out the site required piling, but Carl had already suggested this might be a possibility so it didn't come as a nasty surprise.
Once the job started the team were fantastic, keeping the rest of the house free of disruption and both keeping me informed of how the plans were progressing, and checking for any issues I had. They even brought their own tea, coffee and kettle! Once the job was complete, to time and budget, Carl inspected the site to make sure that everything was cleaned up and restored before signing off the job.
I'd highly recommend Cheshire Extensions for their organisation and attention to detail, and all at a competitive price!

Having been let down by another builder we were really pleased to have had Cheshire Extensions recommended to us. Carl came to meet with us the day after our initial enquiry and provided a competitive quote for our garage conversion and house refurbishment within a couple of days.
The work started when promised and the team were always punctual throughout the project. The job was programmed well such that it minimised disruption to the entire house at any one time. All the tradesmen were approachable and communicative so we understood what was being done and when.

When we were looking for a builder to execute our plans for a loft conversion at our recently purchased bungalow, we discussed our requirements with several builders. We finally accepted the quote from Carl Bateman at Cheshire Extensions, mainly because he was suggesting a shorter timescale and was within our ballpark on price.
However, there is always a worry with such major building works, particularly before the work begins; but we needn’t have worried. The people Carl put in charge of our job, gave us every confidence that the work would be done properly and completed on time.
Inevitably there were unforeseen problems and extra work was requested [for example, new damp-proofing and gutters, etc.] but these were all taken in their stride and we got into the house by Christmas, which had been our initial deadline.
The main reason that Cheshire Extensions was able to finish in good time was because Carl ensured that the right people, with the right materials were on site at the right time. It gives enormous confidence to see half a dozen workmen all working seamlessly together.
We would certainly recommend Cheshire Extensions to anyone requiring major building work carried out. We have also told Carl that he may use our house as an example of the workmanship of his workforce, should he wish to do so for any other potential clients.

We wanted a small single story extension including a conservatory, utility room and a downstairs lavatory. We asked a few builders to come and give us rough estimates and advice, Carl Bateman visited us and suggested that we consider swapping the conservatory for a sun room.
Once we had drawings and approval from the council, we put the work out to tender and Carl’s quote was the best. The work started very soon after accepting the quote and was undertaken quickly and with minimum disruption to us. The choice of a sun room rather than a conservatory has proved to have been a wise one, the room gets a deal of use even in the recent cold weather.
We are more than pleased with the results. I should add that we did encounter one small problem after the work was completed, but Carl and his men very quickly put things right. I would recommend them to anyone.

As anyone who is considering having an extension to their home built knows, there is always a certain amount of apprehension when selecting a builder regarding costs, quality of workmanship, levels of disruption, timescales, etc.
We were extremely fortunate when we met Carl Bateman (Cheshire Extensions Ltd) who from our first meeting was extremely professional in his approach, although we had planning permission Carl was able to offer a number of suggestions to enhance the functionality of our kitchen extension. He is extremely knowledgeable and the amendments were agreed with the building inspector as no additional cost.
Carl and his team were on site on the agreed starting day and from the minute they arrived we knew we had chosen the right company for our extension. Everyone of his team works to an extremely high standard, there was no mess left on site at any time during the building works. The team were very considerate to our family needs of having to live in the house whilst undergoing major building works. We were constantly updated on progress and important mile stones such as knocking through enabling to plan our activities accordingly.
The costs for the extension were fixed and didn't increase, the work was completed to an extremely high standard and delivered on time. When they left with the exception of a three inch slip of missing grass around the extension wall you wouldn't have know they had been there.
I would recommend anyone considering any type of building works to employ Carl as their builder as you can be very confident that you're employing an extremely creditable and highly professional company who can be trusted to deliver very high quality building services.

As we were considering extending our house in the summer of 2009 we came across Cheshire Extensions through a recommendation. Whilst we took this as a good sign, we discussed our plans with three building companies and received quotes from each one.
From Carl Bateman coming around initially to talk to us about our plans, we were most impressed with his professionalism, advice and lack of 'hard sell'. Due to the nature of the ground floor extension there was going to be an issue at the construction phase around the use of our existing kitchen. Carl went out of his way to give a practical solution to how this problem could be resolved, bringing two of his colleagues around on a separate occasion to confirm his thoughts. This was something that made us think, quote permitting, we would like to proceed with Cheshire Extensions.
Thankfully, Carl's quote was in our budget, and so construction started promptly. I can honestly say that for the ten weeks or so of builders coming to our house, every day they turned up, ready to go at 8am. They were reliable, courteous and got on with their job. When there was a potential issue with the Architect's drawings, my wife and I were consulted over potential solutions. Undoubtedly, having your house ripped apart and put back together again is a fairly stressful experience, but Cheshire Extensions service helped alleviate some of this stress and the job went very smoothly. Having read all the reviews on this site I can only totally agree, especially with the professionalism/efficiency and friendly team of workers. Carl's manner at our first meeting set the standard and his foreman Ronnie led his team of excellent workers by example.
